OUR LOCATION

Our yachts are based in the marina at Le Crouesty, right at the entrance to the Gulf of Morbihan, on the Rhuys peninsula. The marina lies 15 miles from Vannes, with good air, rail and road links. Crouesty marina is large with outstanding facilties and is home to an active racing fleet.

Vannes is a gorgeous old-walled city, with an ancient cathedral and many well preserved half timbered 16th century houses.

The Gulf of Morbihan is an amazing inland sea, about 15 miles by 10 miles wide, and dotted with hundreds of picturesque islands. Getting the tides right is the key to cruising the Gulf. Such a large area has to be filled and emptied through the narrow entrance and even narrower passages between the islands. But if you get it wrong, there are worse places to be sitting on deck in the sunshine and getting nowhere for an hour or two. It is a fascinating pilotage ground, reasonably buoyed but in the quieter reaches the far marks are sometimes difficult to spot.

Outside is the sheltered Bay of Quiberon, surrounded by attractive destinations for a yacht. It is a wonderful sailing ground, with a number of yacht harbours, pretty islands and sandy beaches around the perimeter. Belle Ile is the largest island. Its capital, Le Palais, is a fascinating walled village overlooked by a huge Vauban designed 17th century citadel. Houat and Hoedic are smaller picturesque islands where numerous anchorages always offer good shelter no matter what the wind direction is.

Detailed information for joining us will of course be sent upon booking.
