WELCOME TO BLUE SAILING !

BLUE SAILING was the first RYA Training Centre to be established in South Brittany, welcoming students throughout the year in the unique sailing area that is Quiberon Bay.

Since 2010, over 1000 students have come to us. This last year alone, close to 100 candidates have passed the Yachtmaster exam whith BLUE SAILING.

Royal Yachting Association (RYA) qualifications are known and respected the world over and represent a consistently high standard of competence. RYA courses are the right choice for anyone interested in developing their seamanship. For the amateur, they develop the essential skills required when sailing with family and friends. In the world of professional yachting, they have helped launch many successful careers and are a must for those seeking to work in an international environment.

We offer a full range of courses for beginners, experienced yachtsmen or career professionals preparing for the RYA / MCA Yachmaster. Tuition is entirely in English we welcome students from all over the UK, France or the world.

Based in le Crouesty, we sail the stunning Gulf of Morbihan, with its many islands and anchorages, and the sheltered waters of Quiberon Bay. Vannes is very easy to reach by road, air or High-speed TGV train, and we will be happy to help arrange transfer to the boat.

The Principal of BLUE SAILING, Jean-Paul Deloffre, has 30 years experience of coasting in South Brittany and knows every single creek, cove, or anchorage in Morbihan. He has also cruised extensively in Europe and made several transatlantic crossings...only to find out that nothing beats Morbihan for a combination of fine sailing weather, challenging pilotage, beautiful scenery and great food.

We look forward to having you with us !

WHY CHOOSE BLUE SAILING

Excellence in tuition and safety first

We teach our students in small groups, with plenty of individual attention : we welcome 4 students maximum on our 44 and 48 foot yachts and 3 students maximum on our 35 foot yach !
Our skippers are all qualified RYA instructors with a wealth of experience in the Atlantic and beyond.
They have the ability to pass their extensive knowledge and experience in a friendly, approachable way and will ensure that you get the most out of your training. Above all, our skippers value your safety and that of the boat above anything else. BLUE SAILING uses properly MCA coded yachts (Maritime and Coastguard Agency); great care is taken to ensure that all useful safety equipment is available and up to date. We like to leave nothing but good memories in our wake, so we adhere strictly to a policy of zero garbage at sea.
As a student with us, you'll enjoy improving your sailing skills at a rapid pace. If you charter a boat or seek insurance for your own craft, you may benefit from special discounts that are associated with your RYA certificate. If you are an aspiring career professional, you can rest assured that you have chosen the best training available anywhere.

Superb sailing venue

Morbihan is a paradise for yachtsmen, with its mild climate and hundreds of islands and anchorages.
You will experience a range of conditions and situations while cruising in a superb sailing area, unique in the Bay of Biscay, sheltered from the ocean by the islands of Belle Ile, Houat and Hoedic and the Quiberon peninsula. The Gulf of Morbihan and the Quiberon Bay are challenging, with ever changing tidal streams, but also gentle, with mostly moderate seas and westerly winds. One of the most interesting playgrounds in Europe to learn yachting !

Individual attention and quality of service

We pride ourselves in being a small but high quality school. We value personal attention and individual service, from the minute we greet you on the yacht to the time we say good bye. We want to understand your particular goals, and will never try to make you sign up for a course that is not right for you.
Sailing jargon can be a bit daunting for a non native English speaker. We have therefore developed a custom-made intensive 2 day course for those who already know English but are not aware of the specific terms used to manoeuver a yacht. This course is especially suited to aspiring yachtmasters.

BLUE SAILING : FOR THE LEISURE YACHTSMAN OR THE ASPIRING PROFESSIONAL

The RYA training programme covers all sailing abilities from complete beginner through to advanced qualifications for serious leisure or commercial users. The maritime industry offers many opportunities for employment around the world and people from all walks of life become yacht skippers. Skippering yachts is a unique and rewarding career. As a yacht skipper, you have responsibility for the yacht and everyone aboard. You need to be able to draw upon a large number of technical and personal skills, from leading and motivating your crew to maybe solving an electrical problem in the middle of the Atlantic !

There are many avenues available to the newly qualified skipper including yacht deliveries, corporate entertainment, flotilla skipper or a large yacht skipper. Working on expensive yachts in exotic locations such as the Caribbean and the Mediterranean can be a great way of life and pay is generally very good with excellent career opportunities. However, you need to work extremely hard and have very high personal standards. You also need to be ready to cope with challenges and a varied, sometimes hectic, pace of living.

WHY THE YACHTMASTER ?

A great majority of yachts around the world are British registered. Crew placement agencies are almost exclusively staffed with English speaking personnel and English happens to be the working language on almost every super yacht. The RYA Yachtmaster certificate is recognized the world over for its quality and is almost universally sought after by captains and crew agencies alike.

Whereas some national certificates have an excellent intrinsic value, only the Yachtmaster will open doors to international employment. If you already have good sailing experience, and have decided to start your career at sea or opt for a career change, you should definitely consider gaining a Yachtmaster certificate. If you already hold another national certificate, you should look at complementing it with a Yachtmaster to increase your employment opportunities. At BLUE SAILING, we'll help you achieve your objective.
